Hair Extensions Frequently Asked Questions

• What can hair extensions be used for?
  Hair extensions are not only used for lengthening hair. You can also use them to create colour without the need for chemicals and to increase volume and alter texture.
   
• How much will it cost?
  That depends entirely on which method is suitable for you and what colour, length and thickness you require. A complete cost breakdown will be discussed during your thorough consultation.
   
• How long does my existing hair need to be?
  For best hair extension results, your existing hair should be at least 6cm (2.5 inches) at the nape of the neck and between 14-16cm (5.5 - 6.5 inches) on top. This is to cover the bond that is applied.
   
• How long does it take to put in the Hair Extensions?
  Hair extension will normally take 3-5 hours depending on the method used.
   
• How long do the hair extensions last?
  With correct aftercare and maintenance your extensions should last up to three months. It is not recommended to leave them in longer than this and regular maintenance appointments should be made every 4 weeks to maintain the style.
   
• How do I care for my extensions?
  Your extension should be given extra care during washing, conditioning and styling. I offer an after care package for all new clients that will include the products to use that have had proven results in keeping extension hair soft and manageable.
   
• Can I go swimming?
  Yes you can go swimming and use hot tubs however it is best to wash your hair directly afterwards to avoid tangling. Using the leave in conditioner as provided in the after care pack is recommended to avoid the hair drying out
   
• Can I use hair straighteners, hot rollers or a hair dryers?
  Yes you can. Only 100% human hair is used and this type of hair can be styled like your own. You can also use blow dry, curling Iron and hair straighteners.
   
• What is the maintenance cost and how long does it take?
  Maintenance appointments are scheduled every 4 weeks and cost £80. These appointments will take between 1 - 2 hours.
   
• Will extensions damage my hair?
  Hair extensions will not damage your hair if properly cared for and maintained.
   
• Do I wash hair extension as normal?
  Human hair can be washed as normal using clarifying shampoo and conditioners.
   
• What types of product should I use?
  Moisture is very important when you have hair extensions. Use styling products that are zero or low alcohol. Spray in conditioners and glossifiers are recommended to reduce tangles and keep the hair looking healthy.
   
• Can I colour my hair extensions?
  Human hair extensions can de coloured however with the wide variety of coloured hair extensions available this is not necessary. When colouring is a must a strand test must be done first and only the T section can be coloured. The colour match may not always be as expected with the hair extensions.
   
• Will people be able to tell that I'm wearing extensions?
  No one will be able to tell you have extensions because they are blended in with your own hair. In the consultation a colour match will be carried out so ensure that the extensions look as natural as possible. With the correct aftercare and maintenance they will remain natural looking for up to three months.
   
• Can I wear my hair extension up?
  Absolutely. The hair extensions are applied in such a way that you will be able to wear you hair in numerous styles.
